Wellscroft Farm will host its second Open Barn Day on Saturday, March 10th 2012 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. The event began last year as one of many ideas from the newly formed Harrisville Agricultural Committee (now Commission) as a way to raise awareness and promote agriculture for the benefit of the community. Last year's event was such a success with over 100 attendees, there was no reason not to do it again! Guests are welcome to visit the farm between 9:00am and 1:00pm to enjoy a hot beverage and see day-old baby lambs with their mothers; goats, chickens, and llamas; border collies in action; and maybe even witness a live birth as some did last year! Farm staff will be on hand to answer questions and give tours. Members of the Agriculture Commission will also be available to answer questions about agriculture in town and the goals of the commission. There will be a sale table with the many products Wellscroft Farm produces as well as forms and information for anyone interested in ordering lamb, chevon, or pork. Directions to the farm can be found here. We look forward to seeing you there snow or sun!
